PDF417 is a two-dimensional bar code with multiple layers - in other words, it's decryption is doing in two dimensions: horizontally and vertically. Maximum amount of containing information in code is 2710 symbols. It was developed in 1991 by American company Symbol Technologies – Motorola's subsidiary company.
