EAN-13 is an abbreviation of European Article Number. It includes 13 digits and it is an analog of american standard UPC-A. The only difference is, UPC-A has 12 digits, while the first digit of EAN-13 code is marked by zero (for example, UPC-A code 123456789104 will be 0123456789104 in EAN-13 coding - both of them are identical).
